Christmas Cards

Here are a couple of the cards that I have been making for the two upcoming craft sales that I am participating in this season.  I have been having a lot of fun in my art room lately, knee-deep in vintage images, buttons and bows.  I have been making crocheted medallions while on my breaks at work, and I find that they added a whole new dimension to the cards.
This Saturday, November 3rd, I will be at the 28th Annual Ermineskin Craft fair here in Edmonton.  For details, please visit their website  http://eclcraftfair.wordpress.com/ where you will find photos of vendor items, and more.

DATE:  Saturday, November 3, 2012
TIME:  10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
PLACE:  Ermineskin Community League/Steinhauer School Gym
32A Avenue and 106 Street, Edmonton
(Enter through Ermineskin Community League Door)

I hope to see some of you there!

Crystal's Wedding Cake

A friend of mine was married recently. It was a beautiful Autumn Wedding, with everything done in an Autumn theme.  What is more beautiful than a Fall Wedding?  I was married in the Fall as well, 26 years ago this month.

I was asked to make this piece for the top of Crystal's wedding cake, and I jumped at the chance!
Autumn colours are so fun to work with - they are so warm and inviting! I was very pleased with how the piece turned out, and this project gave me a lot of inspiration for decorating ideas for my daughter's upcoming nuptials!

Christmas Craft Fairs!

So it wouldn't be the Fall if I wasn't preparing for Christmas Craft Fairs!  I love having a table at a couple of local Craft Fairs for the Holiday Season.  Nothing gets me more excited for Christmas than making my Christmas Cards.  Plus, I get to use lots of the treasures that I find at summer garage sales, which just gives me more room in the art studio to collect more!

This year I am going to be at the King's College Craft Fair on November 24th, and at the Ermineskin Craft Fair on November 3rd.

And today, they have featured me on the Ermineskin Community League Craft Fair Site,
so go over and have a peek!

October Winds

October, originally uploaded by sapphire252.

It has been very breezy the past few days here in Edmonton, Alberta and with the forecast today predicting more wind gusts of up to 57 km/hr, I think that this piece is very appropriate!

Vintage Magnet

New vintage magnet, originally uploaded by sapphire252.

I have large metal cabinets all around my office at work, and I like to have pieces of my art displayed around me when I am there. It kind of reminds me of who I am!

Recently, I have been playing with creating some pieces out of restaurant coasters. This is a vintage piece that I made recently, and I made it magnetic so that it can hang on my cabinets.

The Happiest Business

This is my response to the Watermelon Ice prompt from Summer of Colour...

Yearn

This was my Summer of Color Piece for of all things, the flavor BASEBALL NUT.  Apparently that flavour is a combination of raspberry and cashews.

The richness of the two colours lend themselves lovely to a vintage image...

Wild n' Reckless

This is my piece that I did for the Wild n' Reckless Summer of Color Post.  I hope you like it!  I just love the colours that I got to use in this one, and plan to use them more in the future!

I have been making friends with my art journal again.  This is a page that I created last night with my watercolour pencils and a micron - now it is just waiting for some stories.
This is my second entry for the Summer of Color 2:
Ice Cream Inspirations.  This piece was inspired by one of my favourite flavours:  Mint Chocolate Chip.

I thought that for this piece, I would feature something that I always love to letter:  Beatles Lyrics.  I hope you like it!

This is my first entry for the Summer of Color 2:
Ice Cream Inspirations.  Can you guess what Ice Cream Flavour inspired this piece?

Rainbow Sherbert!

Valentines 2012

I admit that it has been a LONG time since I have added anything to my blog.  Thank you to all of you have stuck with me through my dry spell!

The truth is that I have been creating, although not as much as I would like to.  The soul-feeding and the self-care took a bit of a hiatus over the last couple of months, but I am back on track, and taking care of what my soul needs of me, which means that I should have more to share with you in the months to come.  So to start, here are some Valentines that I created for 2012.  I am still loving collage, although I want to add some more of my own drawings and lettering to the cards in the future.  What do you think?  Stay tuned!
