The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

You HAVE to read this book...an untraditional combination of science fiction and love story. Henry DeTamble is a librarian with Chrono-Displacement Disorder. He travels involuntarily through time, but as a result meets Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural course. I loved reading this story, and was sad when it was through. Did I mention that you HAVE to read this book?

definitely an interesting take on straightforward prose. i'm in the middle of the book now and i'm wondering how it will end. it appears the wedding is the climax of the story and i'm wondering what kind of conflicts will follow as the story leads, i think, to a resolution...will she go with him in the end, will their relationship stablize his disorder, will he continue his philandering ways afterwards?

I enjoyed the book myself - I enjoyed all the mysteries of his time travel backwards and forwards and cried at the end. I wonder if she will do another about the daughter following on from this.

Oh, I agree! I just finished listening to it on CD and was amazed at the quality of the book. It is really so very original and well written and well rounded and all that good praise stuff. I've told all my friends it is a MUST read. And, yes -- I was disturbingly sad and yet happy at the end...

I agree with you -- this is a must-read book. I found it last fall and read right through it. I'm a long-time Science Fiction fan, but I didn't really consider this SF. My reviews can be found at http://www.elsi123.net/~elsi/reading/2004/09/angelica-and-time-travelers-wife.html and http://www.livejournal.com/community/50bookchallenge/2298600.html

This is one of the greatest books of all time. A truly captivating love story that can not be read quickly enough. It is written with such talent that the characters are honestly real. It's so emotionally stirring... even when you already know what's going to happen.
